how do you update your bios?

ycetea

There are ways to update the BIOS via the OS (which is when you would use an EXE file) but:

I don't recommend updating BIOS through the OS - too many things can go wrong.

The files can be susceptible to malware and if the system hangs or crashes then your lost without backup and your Motherboard is toast. IF you do it through the BIOS you may have an escape route, like a secondary recovery BIOS to recover the standard one. Again, if you do not know how this works I would strongly advise against it

I can't help if you don't quote me. How am I supposed to know if you need my premium support? Now starting at £399.99 a year.

Also, be a sport and mark the correct answer as the correct answer. It will help pour souls in the future when they are stuck and need guidance.

There shouldn't be. MSI don't give you an automatic updater, you have to do it manually. If they did it would be a simple exe file. I would assume the text doc tells you what to do and the 2h0 file is your BIOS update. Paste that onto the root of your USB and run through the BIOS updater again. I'll admit that MSI's updater is not the easiest but this isn't rocket science.

This. And if it is, don't touch it. Especially if the computer works fine.
