How to transfer os from hdd to ssd without formating the hhd

Clone it. I use Acronis, but you could use CloneZilla or gParted.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

or multiple other software freebies that will do it too. Then you'll have to delete the data from the original otherwise it'll still boot from that. Make sure that the cloned SSD works first before deleting anything.

Yes lookup cloning and then removing old windows partitions. It's pretty easy don't worry :)
