is the Evga 450 BR a good power supply

Just curious what your guys thouts are on the 450 BR Evga power supply model its above the B, and the BT and gives 37.5amps on a single 12v rail. Im asking because im cutting it close a bit on my build and people hav told me if i get a good one it should be fine im just wondering if this is considered a good one

A unit with no reviews and a 30°C temperature rating? Probably crap. And with PSUs, any PSU is crap until the opposite is proven.

Depends, for a R3 1200 with a GT 1030 build it's good, for an 8700k with a 1080Ti I don't think so..

@aezakmii, hey thank you for replying and actually being productive in the conversation. So the build i am doing says uses 340watts on pcpartpicker but i dont think they take into account overclocking, the ryzen 2600 (Non x version) bases at 3.4ghz and turbos to 3.9ghz, the chip as you probably know is unlocked so with my 212 evo cooler I would like to overclock it to like 4.1ghz max, the ram I am also trying to overclock to 3000mhz as its rated for. In addition to this I have a gtx 1070 Evga FTW, based on this information even though pc partpicker says at base speeds for everything iits only 340 watts , do you think that the BR 450 Evga would be a viable option for me

We can't tell if the power supply is good from the specs, because PSU specifications don't tell if it's good or not. (However, they *can* tell us if it's really bad.)

 

Just like you can't tell if a 1200MHz, 4GB PCIe 3.0 graphics card is fast or slow.

This is a cheapass unit that is also made as cheap as it gets by be quiet and others. So no, its not a good unit and you won't find anyone who is into PSU that will recommend this dumpsterfire.

 

Get a good one like Bitfenix Formula, Whisper M, be quiet Straight Power 11 and Cougar GX-F.

450-550W.

@Stefan Payne bro lol i might as well get a 600 watt from the same shitty brand so even if it doesnt fire on all clyinders it will still be able to push out enough wattage... as the ones you are mentining i looked up and are like 80-120 $ for a 450 watt when i can buy the same branded as the one i mentioned earlier in a 600 watt for 39

If you don't want our advice why ask at all?!
If you want to kill your PC and have issues with it that are totally preventable, go ahead and get the BR.

 

If you want something good, get something decent like a Bitfenix Formula for example.

 

 

And you get what you pay for.

You will get a shittier fan, worse voltage regulation and other stuff.

 

Do you really want to learn that PSU are important the hard way or listen to what we have to say?

@Stefan Payne i hear ya there just to expensive atm, would getting a crappy power supply but one that could provide way more than enough power really kill my pc?

Yes, that can happen

the probability you have some stability issues like random freezes, lockups and reboots increases as the quality of the PSU decreases.

 

And this can also cause damage to the components.
