Toshiba DT01ACA100 "clunking"

PoweradeGuy

Hey guys! Just joined the forum looking for help because this has been eating at the back of my mind for a while. So about two months ago or so I bought a DT01ACA100 new and added it into my file server since I needed more room. And ever since then, it sounds like there's been a drive in there clunking or thudding? (I guess that's a good way to put it) when (presumably) the heads park. I've done extended tests on all drives and none of them come back with any problems, so supposedly on that front I should be good. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem or not.

Drives in server are as follows with most hours at top, for reference:
Seagate ST1000DM003

Seagate ST9160314AS

Seagate ST500DM002

Western Digital WD10EZEX

Toshiba DT01ACA100 (aka the questionable drive)

normally if there is unusal noise like clicking or clunking coming from a harddrive it means the drive is on its way out i have 3 toshiba drives similar to your model and they have never made any unusal noises but other drives ive had in the past have made unusal noises just befor they failed seeing it is a newish drive you might be able to get it replaced under warranty
