R9 280X Terrible performance!

Okay so I just got an R9 280X and I am having some real performance issues with the card, the card usage never goes over 64% usage even in BF4 and I am stuck with dreadful FPS and I get horrible stuttering in other games also! Should I send it back and get another card like a GTX 770 or is it driver issues I have unparked my CPU cores used latest drivers, older drivers I have no other display drivers installed in the PC, it seems to be quite a common problem according to other forums what should I do?

sell it on Ebay for like 450 dollars but label it as a *Tested Bitcoin mining machine

then buy a 770 :D

Dreadful, like 10-25 on Ultra, same FPS on low I don't know what the hell is going on!?

I would open up your case and try reseating your graphics card. Try another PCI-E slot if possible, see if that changes anything at all. This is a strange one indeed.

I would personally reseat it/try it in a different PCI-E slot. I've had a motherboard's CPU socket die on me 2 days after putting in a new CPU. Weird things can happen. You checked that both power connectors are attached securely as well?

Power connectors are in fully in, will try a different slot in the morning its like 3AM in Scotland and I am in vegetable mode now:)

Do you happen to be running your games in Window-Mode?
You need to run games on Full-screen for the GPU to kick into 3D Mode clock speeds (full speed). I believe this is also valid for NVidia cards.

i get about the same gpu usage in bf4 but im fine. 60-80 fps on max settings with a 760

What was your previous card? If it was an nVidia card, did you completely uninstall the nVidia driver, down to running Driver Sweeper to rid yourself of any remaining nVidia driver component? AMD cards are very sensitive to nVidia driver, or remnants of it, and can perform badly due to this.

 

I'd just gotten a pair of R9 290X to replace my 3-way HD7970's, and I had to uninstall the previous Cat driver. When I'd upgraded to Win8.1 Pro, I had to uninstall and reinstall the same driver again. But, I'm glad to say there hasn't been any hint of issue. I suspect there's a driver conflict somehow....btw, what driver are you using? I'm on Cat13.12WHQL....
