is worth buying used mining video cards?

i just want to know because i recently buy a rx 580 that was used in mining for 5 months he said that he made an undervolt so that´s it

I wouldn't buy one from a mining farm.

It may be broken pretty fast because of the extreme usage of mining.

It depends on the price and the condition, if they were run in a cool room with moderate OCs probably, but if they were OCd to the max in a hot room than turn your skepticism up to 12

Ask the seller to put it in your rig when you buy it

Yes as basically all miners are not overheating their cards and most case run cooler than most gamers. Also component that experience large temperature change is worst than not so high constant temperature component.

It sounds like you already bought it.  I would try stress testing it for a moderate period to see if it breaks and run some benchmarks to make sure you're getting close to the performance of when it was new.  If it can't do these things, I would ask for your money back.

If they were ran in comfortable environments, I'd recommend looking into it before purchasing it, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

If they weren't and they were poorly taken care of, don't.

$220 for an RX 580 seems a little high. A bit more cash and you can get a new card.

I've purchased used mining cards and rarely had an issue. Just look the card over really well and make sure it's in good physical condition. Ask lots of questions like the age of the card, average running temp, if it was undervolted, and if it was in a climate controlled area. Cards left in humid basements or garages may show signs of moisture or tarnish on the metallic components. Avoid those.

Dont know why people think it would suddenly break after purchase. Like it wouldn’t have failed at some other time. 

 

A lot of assumpsions when when it comes to it but also a lot of variables.
