PSU is shit, so good idea to replace that, indeed :)

I'd also change motherboards as A320 boards are utterly useless. It's also a shame you got 2400MHz memory, but 16GB is a good idea nevertheless. It should handle a 1070Ti okay at 1440p.

upgrading ram and psu won't make any difference regarding to 2k gaming. Ram could be an issue when it comes to certain games needing more than 8 GB but that has nothing to do with the graphics side. The GPU does all the work in the end, I think a substantial upgrade would be to sell that 1060 and buy a new GPU. You can add a stick of ram if you need it for some games.

Swap psu for sure. If I where you and plan to play 1440p 144hz I would bought a ryzen 7 or a i7 8700/8700k
Anyone can tell you that is ok (indeed it is) but if you plan to put 144hz your cpu usage will ramp up (spiking 100% when you do something like watching youtube hd while playing, and that you will saw as a 100% cpu usage and a stutter on your game)

So if its only for 1440p put a 1070ti/1080 (best deal) and psu+8 gb ram (ryzen benefits a lot of dual channel)

If you plan to play 1440p 144/165hz just upgrade to something better (you need something like a 2600/8700 to run without high cpu usage high demanding games on a high refresh rate) :D

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

You should just get a new GPU. Since the one you have is more than fine for 1080 and I’m sure you can dabble in 1440p if you lower your settings a bit, I suggest you wait and you’ll be able to afford something better. Although, the motherboard and PSU are utter CRAP, so getting a whole new system doesn’t sound too crazy, specially now before the new PUs come out and you can sell it for a bit more money...

The PSU OP currently has is a cheap Chinese piece of scrap, so it is a good ide to swap it out before getting more power hungry hardware.

Get a new board and PSU. Sell the ram and get a faster speed. B350 board if you aren't overclocking. X370 if you are.

hi.

In ascending order of goodness

MSI B450 boards

Gigabyte X370 Gaming K5, X470 K5

Gigabyte X370 Gaming 5

Asus Prime X370 Pro, X470 Pro

Asus X370-F, X470-F

More expensive ones are too overkill to be considered.
