Fresh windows installation leads to lower temps??

parthm

Ok so my laptop was running quite slow and I knew the culprit was windows.i ended up making a recovery and doing a fresh install.i get that windows should run better now but one thing really surprised me.

I have installed the same version of Windows, drivers ,etc.

I was playing fortnite and I realized my laptop was running much cooler with the same settings after the fresh install.im talking about atleast 6 to 7 degrees cooler maybe more.how much does Windows suck for that to happen?

Excessive background programs that you used to have installed could have been working the computer harder while you game than need be. Do you use a frame rate limiter when you play?

It's not likely the OS itself was to blame, but rather your OEM's crapware. I've noticed on my HP Pavilion Gaming 15 that removing the Coolsense software also dropped temps and noise.

Maybe because there's less programs running in the background.

Lmao, Coolsense  supposed to help cooling down your laptop, not overheating your laptop.

I used to check my running processes and I can probably say there were fewer processes running back then.

Doesn't work at all, lol. My girlfriend had a Pavilion 15 (non-gaming model) and observed the same. Less noise, and a reduction in temperatures. Sure, the case gets a bit warmer, but the internals are a bit cooler.

No clue, I removed all HP crapware anyway. Works better this way, lol.

Doesn't work for me either, pretty odd that it kinda works 50/50.

I just do a fresh Windows install, install my GPU driver and call it a day.

yeah, firstly you dont have the updates running in BG ( most of use disable it, they are really annoying ) and secondly there are a lot of shitty stuff from MS that are running after a certain time for no reasons. new install==> no shittywere xD
