XPS 15 ETA delayed by nearly 2 months

So I ordered an XPS 15 on July 15th, and was given an ETA of August 2nd. Fast forward to today, and it has been delayed to September 25th (I wasn't even given an email notification about this. Thanks, Dell).

My question is, now what? I can risk waiting it out but if it does arrive at the given ETA (or after it) then I'll have spent 3 weeks at school with no laptop. Should I cancel and order something else?

Call them and ask what's wrong. Say that you need something for school, and you're extremely disappointed by this, as this laptop is what you want. If you get a decent customer service rep they might bump you up to something better.

If they can't do anything for you, act sad and say you'll have to cancel the order and purchase something from Apple instead.

Welcome to the forum!

First off, thank you!

Now, I was thinking that might be my only option as well. This happened to my friend a couple of months ago too, although much less severe. I'll probably end up doing that.

Goodluck trying to explain your problem to people over seas.. That is one of the main reasons I didnt like dealing with Dell..and have sent back plenty of products, I'm not sure your location, But you can check like UPS or who ever its been shipped by, and see if that is the problem.

And yes, You can do the whole "I'm going to go with your competitor"... but really.. They are not losing much on your $1,000 product that is going to make them hold you buy the leg and make you stay with them.

But you can say you are going to cancel the package due to the long wait, and maybe you should switch brands, But hey, if they XPS 15 is all you have ever wished for stick with it, But some have had issues.

Yeah, make sure you say Apple as well; if they think you're going with an Apple machine, you're leaving the Windows ecosystem and the chance of you buying a Dell product in the future drops dramatically. Same reason my buddy got an insane trade in value for his broken iphone 4 when he was buying a Note7.

I don't think it's been shipped. If it's a two month delay, it's likely a problem with fulfillment, not shipping.

Haha, I guess you don't know how sales and customer retention work if you actually believe that second point.

I do though.. I am in my last year of getting my masters in Business Analytics, And can tell you they wont care, Unless he talks to the person that is getting the commission from the sales, any other person would be happy to help him start the refund posses, Yes they might say, "Are you sure you want to cancel" etc, and play it of like they REALLY are sad he is leaving, But at the end of the day what are they losing?

Well I wasn't able to call at the moment so I decided in the meantime I'd DM Dell Support on Twitter. According to my rep there was a parts shortage, and that my laptop is apparently now in the final stages of packaging before being shipped. So, to me, that means it's not nearly as bad of a delay as it seemed at first. I'll let you know what happens, though.
