Hi,

I need some help deciding if i should upgrade my gaming pc, as i think i should. Aswell as that if i do decide to upgrade, what should i upgrade to?

 - System Specs -

Processor - Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz

Graphics Card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

RAM - Corsair VENGENCE 8gb (2x4) (ddr4 i think?)

Power Supply - BitFenix Fury 650G

Case - XPredator (i think it might be a bit big)

I got this pc from PLE computers so it's prebuilt i just picked the parts.

I have had it for like 4-5 years now and i can still run most new games on med-high graphics, but my fps on these games hangs around 40-50-60 depending on the game

probably GPU to a cheap GTX 980ti

I would add more RAM because it's nice being able to run a game and chrome in the background

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

That system uses DDR3 memory, DDR4 didn't exist yet when Haswell became a thing (which this is based on).

What games are we talking here, and which resolution? A budget would also help :)

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

I play all my games at 1920x1080 res (my monitors native) Hunt showdown, FFXV, GTA V, Dead by Daylight, Battlefield 1 and soon to be playing Monster Hunter world.

I have 2 more ram slots on my motherboard, Should i get 2 more of the sticks i already have so its increases to 16gb?

Yep. That's good for a start. GPU wise, a GTX1060/RX580 isn't much of an upgrade, so I wouldn't consider those, personally. For the same price, you can get a 2nd hand 980Ti which performs a lot better. I'd just hold off, though.

Yes that is exactly what I would do. That and the gpu and it should be a decent upgrade. Also if you don't have an ssd that would be something to consider getting as well. It wouldn't let you game any better but it would make the computer run snappier.

I just did some searching, would this card be a good upgrade?
