Need help for my next pc

-Moved to Laptops and Pre-Built Systems-

At $700, you should not have a GT 1030. At that price, you should have at least a 1060 6Gb.

Are you using it to play games? If so that's not a good system to buy as the GPU is pretty low end.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

It will perform similarly to a $400 Ryzen 5 2400G system due to that GT1030.

Only in GPU-bound tasks, in CPU intensive tasks, this build will outperform the Ryzen 5 2400G by quite a bit.

For a $700 PC you should be getting a 1050 Ti at MINIMUM.

Personally I would go for a R5 2600 + GTX 1060 6gb given that kind of budget.

But if i try to get a prebuild with a 1050ti or a 1060 i will not have a 16gig of ram i will be stuck with 8gig and i will not have a i7-8700

@KarathKasun

If the PC is for gaming, the 1030 is NOT a gaming card.  An i5 8400/R5 2600 + GTX 1060 will run circles around that i7 8700/GT 1030.

I am looking to play some titles like fortnite or cs:go not games that are graphicly demanding like witcher 3 but is the 1030 better than a 940M

Then GTX 1050 Ti is the way to go.  GT 1030 is better than the 940, but 1050 Ti will give you 60+ FPS in those games where 1030 will struggle (at 1080p for both).

What I mean is, for a $700 PC, there should not be a GT 1030.

No.  An i3+GTX 1050 TI would kill both of those builds.

Games are 90% GPU 10% CPU in general.

An i3 with 8gb of ram and GTX 1050 Ti would still stomp them hard.  As in, the i3 would have double the FPS.

If you want to dual purpose at $700 you have to trade off somewhere.

I would add $100 or so to the budget and get something with a bit better GPU.

I got an i5 laptop with GTX 1050 Ti last year for ~$650, so you should be able to do an i7+gtx 1050 Ti for $700.

With a GT1030 you won't have a great gaming experience though, plus if your 3D art stuff can be GPU accelerated (idk if it can) then the GPU might also matter. You'd be better off with an i5 8400 + 1050 ti or 1060 3gb. Those cards are multiple times faster than a 1030

By small do you mean low profile? Or just shorter? There are 1050s out there that don't need to be connected to the PSU
