One of the reasons they are not that interested in the market yet is that the western market depends a lot on marketing and brand value, which Xiaomi barely has. Their strategy to keep prices low include not spending on marketing and that would have to change. Besides, Chinese/Indian markets are more inclined to try out unknown brands, while western countries have some kind of a "if it’s Chinese, it’s crap" culture.

Quite good but not 'excellent'. Still a Chinese manufacturer. Also depends on some luck

I have Note 4 for more than a year now and the only issue so far is the lock screen button is loose

nowadays kinda everyone everywhere recommends this one. Quite cheap, but very nice specs for the price.

Also, on XDA there is LineageOS (and some others), so you can think of it as a cheaper midrange-Nexus.

But i would highly suggest to spend those few little bucks more for the 4gb Ram / 64gb Storage version.

Ram: 4gb is better than 3, it helps you keeping more apps open. Not just today, but also in 1 year, 2 years, maybe 3 years. The more apps you use day2day, the more you will notice it.

Storage:  SD Card is not a replace for internal storage, and will never be. it's often WAY slower, and some apps can't use it at all, like Whatsapp (this will fill your internal storage, and then it's over).

If it's just 20-30 bucks difference, trust me: Spend them, it's worth. ^^

My Mi A1 is great, the only issue I've found is the front-facing camera isn't the best (but I don't take many selfies) and neither is the low-light performance of either camera, and it tends to bend from drops and tight pants around the power button area.

So, basically, if you're careful with it and aren't a huge camera or selfie nerd, I highly suggest the Mi A1 (and any other Xiaomi phone).

Quote me to see my reply!
