The SKUs ending with a "K" are unlocked. 8700K, 8600K, etc.

i have a i5 8400 and when i have gotten it i never knew anything about locked processors.

So here i am is it possible to unlock an intel i5-8400 to overclock it?

No. You can't simply unlock a processor. It is impossible to overclock that chip.

The only you can do is BCLK overclocking, but I don't know if that is a thing anymore with Coffeelake CPU's, as Intel was not a fan of this last gen.

BCLK is basically overclocking while keeping the same multiplier (the multiplier is the easy way too OC and is the thing unlocked CPU's have.. Unlocked :P )

Be aware you also need a Z series overclocking board to overclock these chips.

It is not a K series CPU so no, you cannot unlock it.

Try using ThrottleStop. You might be able to increase the PL1 and PL2 turbo power limits. That is how you get maximum performance out of a locked CPU.
