Done with Android.

For the past few years I've been using the Oneplus X. Gets medium usage every day, including Youtube and web browsing. It was a great phone to begin with and probably couldn't beat it for the price. However since then it has been getting very slow, apps are crashing all the time and the battery life has become rubbish. I've began to miss the stability of Apple's IOS and will be getting a mac for uni so i was thinking about swapping to iPhone again.

Can anyone recommend what iPhone to get in 2018? Unlocked is a must and i don't mind buying second hand. Under 400euros would be great too.

Cheers,

The OnePlus X is too old. Are you reading the latest news? Older gen iPhones get higher battery drain on the latest update. Nothing is safe and @Crunchy Dragon is completely right, getting anything above that barely makes sense.
How about a OnePlus 5t or 6?

Not picking up a phone because no aux is silly. Wireless solutions are cheap as hell these days and there is almost no excuse to go aux. Get the phone that fits you best.

It's been stated, but I'll restate as well. My OnePlus3T has been going strong for a year and a half now, I'd say it should hold out for at least 1 more year before I start debating more phones. But just because one particular phone does not hold up to today's tech does not mean all androids are poorly made.

I'm the exact opposite. Despite the loss of the headphone jack on newer iPhones, the 6 Plus is getting pretty sluggish. At the absolute minimum, the 6S/6 Plus/SE make sense just because they're a bit newer at least (and in my experience, handle iOS 11 better).

I can attest to the idea that it's a great phone. I used an iPhone 6S for a few months last year and it was a treat despite its' age.

The excuse would be that you already own a lot of high end/quality headphones and use them. Switching to BT is a pain and it requires that you buy new ones that are compatible and invest more cash to get higher quality ones compared to the traditional aux. Also, CHARGING! I don't want another tech device that needs charging, my phone, laptop and smart band are more than enough as it is.
But there is always the option of going USB Type C to Aux like I do, sadly my new phone doesn't have aux and this adapter is an inconvenience.

Aye. IIRC the OnePlus X was also launched with an older SoC, so it's actually more aged than it's release date would suggest. I don't think it even has UFS storage.

That's exactly my point, the aux port is going the way of the doto and fast, adaptors or wireless is all you're going to have if you want any variety of phone choices. I understand you've invested in nice headphones, that's cool. But just like with any tech, they become obsolete and need to be replaced eventually.

Oh I understand that. My previous apple devices held up much better than this OPX did. Also i'd like a device where updates are provided for longer than a year which, was the case with my OPX. Plus, i figured that since i'm moving to mac anyways, it'd be nice to have dat sweet mac/iphone combo... ;D

I would have to agree, but there was no valid reason to get rid of it. Also, I guarantee that any wired headphones will KILL any BT headphones in their price range and even ones that are 20-30% more expensive. Also, peripherals that have integrated batteries, like BT headphones are an overall POOR investment. Batteries start dropping capacity relatively fast, and I don't want to have headphones that are over 2 years old and can barely hold a charge to listen to music for a bit, let alone last a day. So, effectively, after 3 years I have a useless piece of tech on my table, while quality headphones last for years. My dad still owns a pair of headphones from the 90s that are still producing amazing sound quality and while I'm typing this I'm listening to music on a pair of AKG's that were bought 6 years ago. So no thanks to BT peripherals.

Rumors are that the iPhone XI will use Type C, but they said the same thing about the iPhone X. Apple will never swap to Type C, because they make royalties off everyone who makes lightning cables because for them to work they have to be Apple Certified.

The iPhone 6S was and remains the best phone I had ever used. I had one from 2016 until this year when I jumped to the Samsung Galaxy S8.

The design was so timeless and beautiful, software wasn't too bad two years later too.

I enjoyed the 6S+. I went from 6S+ to Note 7 (you know how that went) then to the 7+, then to the iPhone X.

Ouch, sorry to hear about your Note 7, a scarring time for Samsung for sure. The iPhone 7+ was a nice evolutionary upgrade from the 6, same could be said about the 8, I guess.

I'm one of those people whom aren't a fan of the whole notch thing, so the X is a no from me. But as long as people enjoy they phone, I'm not one to intrude.

I prefer wired since that's all I have. I don't want to invest extra in a dongle, adapter, or wireless headphones just to accommodate a phone with no headphone jack.

Technically you don't have too, they give you one for free with the phone, but I get your point.  It was a dumb (Not Brave) descision on their part and the only thing about my phone that I 'live with'.

If you want an iPhone, I only recommend the Plus models and the 6s Plus or newer.

To everyone saying that it doesn't make sense to buying anything newer then the 6......I don't know what planet they live on, but it certainly isn't Earth.

What's wrong with 6s? Honestly it's the best phone Apple has pushed out in recent times, and was a step above all the competition at the time (and this is coming from an android user).
