M.2 NVME?

Go to solution Solved by TVwazhere,

Turbo M.2 is MSI's branding of NVME

Soo, I would like to know what type of m.2 my MSI Z370A PRO supports, if its NVME or standard. My mobo says that its m.2 slot is a Turbo M.2 Slot and I've seen in a different thread about turbo m.2 that it is just a different way of saying M.2 NVME...

Soo, what does it support? Standard M.2 or NVME?

^ What @TVwazhere said ^

To add a little, i have never seen a M.2 that supported NVMe and NOT SATA. I'm sure they exist, but if they do they must be on some REALLY niche boards. Most users will do just fine using a SATA m.2 drive. The use case for NVMe is very focused on drive intensive operations. My general advice is "If you don't KNOW that you NEED it, you probably don't.".

Keep in mind that you likely won't be able to use some of the SATA ports on the board when you use the m.2 slot. In case you have a plethora of drives or something.

They're actually pretty common, mostly on boards that have multiple m.2 slots.

The m.2 slot on the back only supports PCIe.
