can i overclock my cpu with these temps?

so I got an amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ idle it runs on 55 degrees celcius and while gaming it runs on 65 - 70 degrees celcius, is it safe to overclock it when i got these temps on stock?

55 is pretty high for idle, 65-70 is normal load.

As long as you're not using the stock cooler, you should be mostly fine. Make sure your temps are good.

Probably around the 80s, as mentioned by @Christophe Corazza those older chips run a lot hotter than modern chips.

You NEEDED a VERY good heatsink and fan for them as CPUs in those days ran a LOT hotter than todays CPUs.

What is your cooler?

Try to identify your cooler first.

Then we are able to tell you if the cooler is capable of dissipating the additional heat that is produced by overclocking your CPU.

definitely no harm in looking at what your dealing with first. And if you're feeling bold enough maybe not a bad idea to repaste it and see if the temps come down at all.

this, also if possible take a picture of the cooler itself and post it here if you are not 100% sure on what the cooler is
