best way for 5 monitor's 1 pc?

im currently running 4 monitors of the nvidia gpu and 1 on intel igpu but when i have sli enabled i have problems with scaling vlc on it since it tends to crash the nvidia driver. so i was looking for other options to connect 1 monitor to the pc instead of via igpu.

You need a DP splitter

how does that work since nvidia card can only do 4 monitors is it using the full bandwidth of a dp to make more screens?  is it the same as a Displaylink USB3.0 dock? i hope you understand that i want to extend not duplicate. saw this: (a splitter will only let you duplicate the screen, not extend it.) maybe it doesnt apply to dp?

I dont know for what you use your setup but if you dont need much performance you could use a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter

ye that is my last hope it won't be too bad since when im gaming that usb screen is idle. But i would like to use DP splitter if the nvidia gpu doesn't count that as 5 monitors cause it can only do 4 monitors/1 per port.

Displayport contains the function called multistreaming which does that

i saw that 5 monitors will top the 1080ti maximum resolution barrier. so dp splitter wont help i will most likely need a usb dock

Bandwidth barrier is calculated for each independent port, not the sum of it.

 

Besides, dont you use 1080p screens as auxillary monitor?

3x 1080p 60hz

1x 4k HDR 60hz

1x 1440p 165hz

 

If it isn't the sum of it then 2x 1080p's should work fine in a DP splitter?

Yes. I dont see these 1080p monitors using DP but the graphics card doesnt have so many HDMi, so I think you already have DP to HDMI adapters right?

so i tried a DP splitter and the splitting works but nvidia still takes that as 5 monitors on the same gpu so it won't allow that. so in the end the splitting does not work to get 5 displays on 1 gpu... i wonder what the restrictions is for the gpu to not be able to run more than 4?
