is there a reason you need 16gb of ram if it's a gaming pc. could save some money there

You don't need Ryzen 2200G if you're getting a RX 580. I would save up another $100 or so and get the Ryzen 2600. It performs really well for the cost. I would only get a 2200G or 2400G if you don't have the money for a GPU currently and need time to save up for atleast 3 months.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

GPU: ASUS Strix Radeon RX Vega 56 OC

Here's what I came up with:

PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel - Core i3-8100 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($118.69 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - TUF H370-Pro Gaming (WI-FI) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($129.99 @ SuperBiiz)

So I'm $16 over budget, but here's my thoughts...

1) i3-8100 is superior to the Ryzen 3 2200g any day. To make up for the extra $20, I saved you money elsewhere by doing you another favor..

2) Getting a MoBo with WiFi (skip adapter) which also has Bluetooth by the way, and is an all-around better MoBo

3) Third noticeable thing - you're spending $65 on a SATA SSD when you can spend $79.99 on the same size SSD, but an NVMe which is 5.25 faster - otherwise what's the point in getting one at all?

4) 4th noticeable thing - Spend $25 extra dollars and get a Dual GTX 1060 6gb video card - any benchmark video you watch on youtube will tell you they are superior to 8gb rx580's - on an intel processor you're going to get near or over 100 FPS. I have one.. don't make this mistake!!

Lastly - you have a 3 pack RGB fan kit when your case has room for 4 fans total, and already comes with two. So you need two fans - get two 140mm for front intake for better airflow. You don't need RGB or LED fans there because there is no front glass, but they will shine some light visible through the side panel.

This is a superior build for the same price - especially if you're focused on gaming. IMO!

Let me knowif you have any questions, I'd love to help!

thermal paste is completely unnecessary, cooler has it already.

a B350 board with a Pci-e adaptor is cheaper, get that and use the money on another 8gb of ram.

the WD green is mediocre, an MX500/SX6000 is only a few bucks more but much faster.

the M12ii is old as dirt and missing protections, don't bother with it. get a corsair CX instead.

That's among the worst B350 boards out there. Get the B350 Pro4 or Prime Plus instead.

Instead of getting an unnecessarily high wattage PSU, get a better one. The Whisper M 450W costs the same.

The case is a bit old, and has pretty bad airflow. It comes with a single exhaust fan. Consider something like the G21.

I got a higher wattage PSU because I am going to upgrade this a lot later. I saw the case on a list of one of the best cases so that’s why is chose that.

Im not sure about the motherboard but I will check it out.

I got a higher wattage PSU because I am going to upgrade this a lot later. I saw the case on a list of one of the best cases so that’s why is chose that.

Im not sure about the motherboard but I will check it out.

With a 450W PSU you have plenty of room for an overclocked 1080. If you get a 1080 Ti, you won't really be wanting to run it on a low end PSU.

Did the list have any justification for the case placements?

That page doesn't really seem credible. Here's their points about the S340:

PROS

  • Steel casing for durability, and the thoughtful design is very beginner friendly.
  • Large bay with room for upgrades and optimized airflow.
  • Huge acrylic window to show off your build; one of the best looking computer cases around.

CONS

  • Included fans aren’t bad, but they leave room for improvement.
  • Structurally sound but prone to scratching and surface wear.

So. The using steel is a cost saving measure. It's not for durability, it's for costs.

Airflow. Right. Obvious that they haven't actually checked any of this.

Acrylic, instead of TG, which you can find on similarly priced cases. And aesthetics are subjective.

Pretty much all cases that aren't from be quiet come with either no fans, or crappy fans. Not something that needs pointing out.

Prone to scratching and surface wear... I mean, it's not wrong...
