I moved the thread from the Tech News and Reviews subforum to Storage Devices.

I also removed all-caps from the title.

Interacting with your system is always faster on a SSD, regardless of the task. It's not relevant to the speed of compiling, though.

This is inaccurate. SSDs are actually more likely to fail when used in the same way HDDs are.

In your case, all SSDs that you've had were a lot smaller in terms of capacity, this means that you surely wrote A LOT less data on them during their lifespan. You've also probably had more HDDs than SSDs in general so it's an apples-to-oranges comparison.

In addition to all that, why do you think no companies archive their data to SSDs or use SSDs as main backup storage? Cost is one thing, sure, but some of them use 10-15K RPM SAS hard drives that are just as expensive per TB. You guessed it, it's reliability and the relatively small amount of data that you can write on SSDs in their lifespan :)

Although SSDs have a limit of how many times it can be read/written so this would in theory damage the SSD faster than the HDD.

At least people working with me know how to maintain a friendly atmosphere and do  not try to dominate over a topic. Thank You I bought a SSD and my experience is definitely better then that of a HDD. The moderator was behaving rude and did not said anything on the topic was  just here to correct  others which should not be a case in a public forum. I hope you will understand what I intend to say. Thank you :)

We have moderation guidelines to follow when moving threads, it is required to say in the thread that it has been moved so the poster knows that it was moved and why, and for anyone else that has participated in the thread. The post did not help answer your question because that was not the intent of the post.

There were better ways to handle this if you did not know why that comment was posted and didn't think it was helping answer your question.

We move threads to the correct locations in the forum to help the general community, there are proper places for content and keeping things organized aides everyone including yourself. Questions get better answers and quicker help when posted in the appropriate place.

If you have any further queries please send a PM to either @Whiskers or @colonel_mortis, discussing moderation in public is actually not allowed and I would suggest you read the Community Standards.

To add to what has been said above, there is no way for an automated message to be sent when a topic is moved, so it is our moderator policy that when a topic is moved, a short note should be left in the topic to explain this. The note is not a disciplinary message, and we don't keep track of how many topics belonging to a user we have moved, it is just to tell you that action has been taken, so you aren't confused about why the topic isn't where you posted it originally and so that you can learn where topics should go. Ideally, this would be done as an automated notification, but as that isn't an option it is a post in the topic instead. This is not a case of the moderator being rude, it is just them doing their job.

All of the moderators on this site are volunteers, giving up their time to make the site better. This means that they should not have to stand for any attacks or abuse that is thrown at them.

Occasionally, mistakes are made. If you believe a moderator has made a mistake, or you have any concerns about a moderator, please send a PM to myself, Whiskers, and/or the moderator in question, and we will try to resolve it as soon as possible. Arguing about moderation in the public forum does not help the situation.

I am leaving this topic open for now, to allow for further discussion on the original premise of this topic. If you would like to continue to discuss moderation, please instead send me a PM, and I will be happy to continue the discussion there. However, if there are any more posts made regarding moderation in this topic, I will have no choice but to lock it.
