The monitor needs to be a 240hz
The gpu need to be able to handle atleast fortnite at a stable 240fps or more.

My opinion:
Replace 8700k with i5 8600k and get a cheaper gpu that can handle what I need?
What can I do ?

www.netonnet.se is the page where I will purchase my products.

Thank you.

You can reduce it to an 8700 non-K variant, downgrade it to GTX 1070, and as you no longer have a K-SKUs, you can also downgrade your motherboard to a B360 board, such as the Gigabyte B360 Gaming 3

Let me try that.

Okay nice we are down at 16687 hmm  a little cheaper?

Perhaps I can get a cheaper 240hz monitor?

I think you could also get a cheaper PSU :) get 16gb of ram with what you safe on that psu :)

Also I would recommend a 250gb SSD

You know what? F**K the 240hz monitor, the price is to high. I will go with a 144hz... for now and change it later on.
So here is how it looks.

And a cheap 144hz monitor for now until I get a 240hz later on.

Will that matter?

Well, 8GB is kinda borderline nowadays and you will run out of ram fast if you play aaa games like bf1 or browse chrome (having only 8gb for a day in my pc put the ram usage at 92% only having battlefield, skype and discord open).

I wouldn't get rid of the K chip at all.

@zindan tries to obtain 240 Hz. However, at 240 Hz the GPU isn't the only consideration you have to make. You will likely hit CPU limitations as well.

Therefore, I would go for the 8700 K and overclock the hell out of it.

True, but @zindan wants to reach 240 Hz.

Otherwise, he could lower his expectations a bit?

16gb is essential, but you can easily ugprade it later

True, RAM prices are through the roof nowadays.

So if you want to minimise the initial cost of your build, you could go for the minimum amount of RAM and upgrade later on when prices have dropped back to normal.

i mean i dont think fortnite is that demanding and an oced cpu probably wont affect fps that much

Actually yea, get 8GB now, upgrade it later.

Besides that if he has never had a 144hz before, assuming he does not. Why go for 240hz the difference between 60 to 144 is huge but  you will definitely see diminishing returns :)

OP wants to go pro.

Theoretically speaking, 240 Hz can give you an advantage with that... although I (and many others) are quite sceptical about that.

At those refresh rates, you're going to have lag problems elsewhere in your system.

moving from 144 to 240 hz is not worth premium price, 144hz is just enough

That's also my opinion. You reah the point of diminishing returns.

240 Hz is also partly paying a premium for bragging rights I guess xD

That's only for the monitor.

He wants to buy a 144 Hz monitor now and upgrade further down the line.

However, in order to do so, you still need to have the hardware (CPU, GPU etc.).
