Hello. I previously posted on PSU Tier's topic to get an advice on which one of the available options (that I have, here) is the best. Most of the people, atleast, voted for the CX450.

I had also posted at another forum at the same time, and now they say; "Going with CX450 doesn't give much headroom for future graphic cards. CX450 has only one PCIe connector. So get CX550W or TX550m to be on the safer side." What does that all mean? Headroom? If it means space, I won't be upgrading anytime in the future, so is it still a problem?
What about the PCIe connector? What purpose does it serve and does it really matter? All in all is the CX450 enough for my build?

My build: i5 8400 + GTX 1060 6GB + H310(open to suggestions) + 8GB RAM + 1 TB

Also, the store I was getting it from said the 450W might be low and recommended me a CX650 which costs alot more (atleast a double.) Do you think they are just trying to get more money? At the discord they said 450W is more than enough.

450W will be fine for this build, assuming the video card in question does not need two Packs connectors, which are the (6 or 8/6+2 pin) power connectors on a video card (your card will either have zero, one or two).

Furthermore, the headroom is only important if you're thinking about a videocard upgrade in the future.

Well, graphics cards need PCI-E connectors, (apart from very low-end ones).

The 1060 6GB for example needs a 6-pin or 8-pin, depends which one you get.

However, if you get something like a 1080 in the future, some of them need a 6-pin AND an 8-pin. If you only have an 8-pin, you have a problem.

450W is in theory enough for a 1080, so capacity wise the upgrade would be possible. but you don't have the right connectors so you can't.

That's why people say get a 550W. Price difference is very small but they come with 2 pci-e connectors so you can connect a high-end graphics card if you ever want to do that.

Physical size probably basically the same so that doesn't matter.

The CX450 is a good unit. The thing it lacks is the second PCIe connection that you would want if powering something like a 1080 Ti.

A Founder's Edition, yes. Otherwise you have to see if the 1070 needs more than 8-pins to power it.

It can power up to a 1080 IF the GPU only uses 1 PCIe connector.
