Enough PCIe lanes for GPU + WLAN card?

So I can slot this card in right now with no problems? Will it run at x8 or x4?

The WLAN adapter looks to be a PCIe x1 card. The GPU will probably go down to x8.

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Gigabyte Radeon RX 550 for some light gaming. I have a quick question about compatibility.

I have a Rosewill WLAN card that I think uses x1 or x4. WLAN card: https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-802-11N-Express-Wireless-RNX-N600PCE_v2-0/dp/B00WV6SLLG

I also have the GPU itself which uses x16. Graphics card: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Graphic-Cards-GV-RX550D5-2GD/dp/B06Y43NJ3D/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527623545&sr=1-3&keywords=rx+550

CPU: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-6100-Cache-Processor-BX80662I36100/dp/B015VPX2EO/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527623591&sr=1-3&keywords=i3-6100

Intel info: https://ark.intel.com/products/90729/Intel-Core-i3-6100-Processor-3M-Cache-3_70-GHz

My question: Can I run these two together on an i3-6100 with only 16 lanes? I have heard that the GPU defaults to x8 mode to allow for more lanes.

Your chipset will also add PCI lanes, so it's best to just check the motherboard specifications to know what everything will run at.

'Worst case scenario' the videocard will be running in x8 mode, which is still totally fine for videocards nowadays
