Apple rejects Steam Link app, citing "business conflicts"

They mentioned the in-app purchases, i.e purchases of steam games. That's what I thought...

It brings steam into competition with the app store in terms of being able to purchase content consumable on an iphone. Even though technically said content is running on your PC the streaming feature allows you to enjoy it on your phone.

(2) I don't know why Moonlight is allowed. Could be any number of reasons. Maybe they didn't think it through as much (like the way they did not think it though when they initially said they would allow Steam). Or maybe because Moonlight it not as big as steam, who knows...

We already established that moonlight is allowed. Big companies are inconsistent all the time including folks like Valve and Apple. Could be any number of reasons including the people who greenlit it being different.

Either this is Apple being assholes like always, or Apple is planning to come out with some sort of gaming system or gaming Mac. I would guess the former.

Wasn't Apple trying to be all buddy-buddy with Nintendo to be the ultimate proprietary brand cancer?

With Windows? Wouldn't be an issue because you just install it or sideload it if it's UWP. With Android? Wouldn't be an issue because you can install it from a 3rd party store or sideload it. Heck even with MacOS wouldn't be an issue because you can just sideload it.

You know you can side load apps on iOS right?

You mean with X-code? That's not exactly the same thing. Sideloading apps on every single other platform is an officially supported thing with standard installation methods. Except arguably UWP.

With X-code it's literally just a developer option to test apps on live devices... It's not an officially supported installation method on the consumer side.

Both may result in the app on the device, but the methodology and ideology behind them are *very* different.

You don’t need X-code

A simple program like Cydia Impactor are just the glorified components of X-code that installs applications of phones.

You can also just side load applications from Safari.....

Speaking of which, it would be amazing if Nintendo were to team up with Apple and make a new DS with an A11 chip. :P

Both combined could probably lay waste to large swaths of the gaming market.
