240Hz screen with gtx 1070

Yeah you'll have to turn down settings, lows and mediums like @Princess Cadence said, so 144hz might be better for you, I like 1440p 144hz, but if you want to run at higher settings, 1080p 144hz is probably better than 240hz

I mean I suppose that's hardly an issue nowadays that Ultras are pointless:

but either ways I really agree that 240hz monitor makes no sense outside CS:GO professional playing... grab a 144hz and call it a day or even better do like me and get a 2560x1080p ultrawide at 100hz/144hz since game immersion is nicer :3

he's just joking, possibly with a grain of mocking.

Vsync does remove screen tearing, tho at the cost of increased input lag.

yeah other than the input  I still feel limited to 60 FPS when using vsync, but if i disable it i get screen tearing. Only option for me if i wanted to COMPLETELY get rid of screentearing and vsync is if i get a 240Hz monitor, but idk this is really nerve racking.

also as I said man, I play lots of games, and most of these games i get 90 - 200 FPS, few games 240 FPS+ and one game that causes me to go as low as 80 (sometimes 70 ngl) FPS, which is gta 5 with settings maxed out (not advanced graphics tho, i stay the hell away from that)

its true, ultra only adds things you'll barely notice but very taxing on the GPU, thats why some people think the PS4 is more powerful than a PC. (yes someone said that to me, more than one person)

again, anything above 70 looks extremely unnatural to me, and besides, im used to 23 fps because of previous integrated GPU and i am also used to extreme microstuttering on xbox one for GTA online so anything higher than that is blessed :)

Im not pulling prices and stuff out of my ass, the best store in my area that sells good pc tech and decent prices (usually when they order something and have it shipped they increase the price by 20% but this store only increases it by 5%.

So im extremely limited for options, i can either get a gsync monitor that costs about the same as my monitor (a lil bit more expensive) or i can get a 240Hz monitor.

ordering from amazon is out of the question because shipping costs a lot.

Go for gsync honestly.  1080p 144hz g-sync is so much better than a regular 1080p 240hz monitor.

240Hz screen with strix gtx 1070 + i7-7700K pros and cons?
I really want a 240Hz as its smooth as hell even if you dont get constant 240 FPS

but before i pay that much I'd like to know the pros and cons of gettings a 240Hz screen with this GPU and CPU

i've played on a 144hz in for ever and i have tried 240hz monitors and i can feel the difference between 144 and 240 but the difference is not that big between 144/240. the huge difference is from 60 to 144.

so IMO 240 is not worth it UNLESS you only play games like csgo/fortnite/league those kind of games you can get high frames rates in with your hardware.

As a 1070 user with an Asus VG278q 144hz monitor, I can tell you from experience that this is about the perfect match. I personally don't see any big difference between 100fps and 144fps. They both look smooth as hell and allow me to game very well. I'd say save the money and go with a 144hz and enjoy!

I have an AOC 240Hz and an EIZO 120Hz monitor. For the average gamer the difference is not going to be worth it, you'll have to have used a 120Hz+ display for a quite a while or have very sharp eyes to notice the difference. There is a difference though, but much less than when comparing 60 to 120Hz; the law of diminishing returns can be applied here too.

There is a difference though, but much less than when comparing 60 to 120Hz; the law of dimishing returns can be applied here too.

so is it worth it or not lmao this thread is about that

and also if the difference between 60 and 120Hz is big then the difference between 240Hz would be even bigger.

any who youre the only one that has a 240Hz monitor so could you tell me if i should pickup one or just stick to a 144Hz g-sync one.

the 144Hz gsync one is out of stock and its an estimated month til they bring it back, that is if they bring it back at all.

So a few things to help make up your mind.

Very few games will even allow you to get the full 240Hz experience because; 1). Unless you play all your games on minimum settings your 1070 is not going to reach anywhere near 240 fps. 2). Most games, like Battlefield for example, have a 200 fps frame cap, so only really in games such as Counter Strike is 240fps achievable.

144Hz is by far good enough to get the whole "high refreshrate experience". Pair that with G-Sync which will completely eliminate tearing and you're bound to have a very good time.

So personally I'd opt for a 144Hz with G-sync panel.
