240Hz screen with gtx 1070

240Hz screen with strix gtx 1070 + i7-7700K pros and cons?
I really want a 240Hz as its smooth as hell even if you dont get constant 240 FPS 

but before i pay that much I'd like to know the pros and cons of gettings a 240Hz screen with this GPU and CPU

Personally speaking i see no difference what so ever past 100hz.... xd... your hardware should do fine enough if you decrease the graphical quality enough.

what resolution? what is the point of smooth gameplay if it looks like garbage? i would rather increase details than increase framerate, as such i never go above 60 fps, i usually stick in the 45 range

pros-240hz, smooth, easy to do with lower settings and less demanding fps games (fortnite, csgo, cs, mobas)

cons-cost, not always 240hz, that's basically it

I have a 60Hz monitor and I tried my friend 144Hz monitor once and god the difference is strong, and i know its even stronger for the 240Hz but I dont want to put that much money into it if aint that good.

1080P, 4k is out of the question, I dont want 30 FPS all the time, as I dont really see the point of 4K with only 30 fps.

It's different if you've played at 144hz for a while then move up, but you will feel the same as moving from 60->144 as 60->240 because that's all you've had.  Imo, a 144hz 1440p screen is better because I'm not a pro gamer and the 144hz is good enough while still looking much sharper than 1080p

The difference between 60 fps and 100 fps is the biggest. After that the difference starts to lessen fast. The difference between 144hz and the 240hz is very small. I would just get a 144hz monitor.

tbh, anything above about 70 looks unnatural to me

It's up to you, I like 1440p 144hz over 1080p 240hz, even though I've only used one.

But i feel really limited when I use vsync, you know? I want a 144Hz but although i dont get constant 240 FPS I still do get more than 144Hz in most games, and I really REALLY hate screen tearing.

I kinda agree with everything you said except for the "gtx 1070 is hardly to go pick for 144Hz" Unless you mean that 144Hz is limiting GTX 1070's power then I disagree, in most games i get more than 144 FPS and the only game that I play that gives me 80 - 100 FPS is gta 5 MAXED out

Vsync does remove screen tearing, tho at the cost of increased input lag.

Yeah you'll have to turn down settings, lows and mediums like @Princess Cadence said, so 144hz might be better for you, I like 1440p 144hz, but if you want to run at higher settings, 1080p 144hz is probably better than 240hz

What's the point of pretty graphics if game runs like crap?

These days games look great even at medium settings, pumping ultra settings is kind of useless.

This. 144hz medium settings is an upgrade I'd take any day over 60hz ultra.
