3 TB or bigger HDD on a X58 pc. Is that possible?

Intelfreak

Now its my time to need some advices before i bay a new harddrive to replace my nearly 10 year old WD black 1 TB HDD in my old X58 based PC.

As far i know for proper use of 3 TB HDD you need a motherboard with UEFI bios if you want to boot from it, but i only need the drive to work as a storage drive and not boot drive.

Motherboard it will be connected to is a ASUS P6X58D PREMIUM so a legacy bios based motherboard with sata 2 ports powered by Intels own controller and sata 3 powered by a Marvel controller and i am using Windows 10 PRO 64-bits, so windows it self supports large HDD.

But does any one know if it will work on the motherboard it self, but only as a storage drive?

Im planning on getting a WD RED 3 TB HDD or bigger.

For a storage drive, it will work fine. Only need UEFI if you're going to be booting from a GPT drive.
