You'll probably end up spending similar to a locked 8700 if you go Ryzen and spend extra on fast 3200 MHz or 3400 MHz memory.

IMO your options are:

2600X

3200 MHz RAM

B350 board (something decent like a Strix B350-F)

Or:

i7-8700

2666 MHz RAM

B360 board; doesnt really matter since you can't overclock

Those will probably end up pretty similar in price, and the 8700 will have better gaming performance.

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti FE

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Tuf X570 Plus Wifi

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53

PSU: EVGA G6 Supernova 850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite

Current Laptop:

Model: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HS

GPU: RTX 3060

RAM: 16GB @3200 MHz

Old PC:

CPU: Intel i7 8700K @4.9 GHz/1.315v

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A

2600x or 8700 would be fine for that.  The 2600x would be cheaper, but cheaper boards for Ryzen+ (B450) still aren't available, and RAM prices really fluctuate, so best value will vary.  You may be able to land a compatible B350 and affordable high speed RAM to make it a good value, but there's less fussing around on the intel side.

Intel generally has better Multi-Core performance and is what I suggest. But for things that need more Single-Core performance, go with Ryzen.

Isnt it the other way around?!

Also yeah, definitely go ryzen in this case. For the cheaper price u get more performance in video editing and streaming

I can stream at 1080p60 medium preset at 6k bitrate , and 900p60 on slow preset at 6k bitrate on the 2700X in x264
Without touching affinity/priority.

Get the one with more cores / threads if stream quality is your priority.

Or if quality isn't too important and you have a modern GPU, stream in NVENC (h.264) at 6k bitrate and just get a "fast" CPU.

I have a intel 8700 and love it... I debated the 2700x and this chip... After reviewing tons of files on user bench reading forums and YouTube I got this. Everything points 8700k...plus it needs more expensive ram just to get those numbers lol amd is behind in cpu and gpu tech lol I recently seen a guy on here same mobo but amd version same main ssd same gpu only difference was ram speed and him having 32g me 16 and of coarse the cpu... He had a 2700x my cinebench numbers were slightly higher and decently higher on single core. Plus idk amd supports Intel optane which is pretty cool. Amds flagship chip should be above a 8700 its older... Idk Intel has so much better chips then their flagship chips to me hands down intel. I've never owned anything but amd for gpus... But it takes two amd flagship to equal a 1080 ti performance.... Then theirs the titan... They got nice stuff but to me their in their own world now a days they used to imo rule cpu scene.
