Mechanical Keyboard Recommendation

I have never used a mechanical keyboard and looking into getting in on the action pretty soon.
Where i live there is not much options to choose from. Razer Corsair and a few G.skill ones.
So far it seems to me that the Corsair k95 Platinum RGB Cherry MX Browns is the best and the priciest of the bunch.
Despite the price i am willing to break the bank for it.
What i want to know is if it's still worth the money since it's more than a year old model and i'm worried a new and updated model may hit the market as soon as i make the purchase (thinking about getting it at the end of this month)

Also is the Brown switch good for someone who has been using membrane switches for ten plus years?
Will be used as my daily driver with typing and a healthy dose of gaming.
Any input would be appreciated.

I have the K70 LUX RGB rocking MX Browns... you'll take a few days to get used but afterwards you'll see the benefits.

the switch type is not going to change your typing speed for the most part, i love blue switches and if you want cheaper options the redragon kumara is a great option in rgb as well

The biggest breakthrough in keyboards that I have seen recently is that some of them are slightly water resistant. I wouldn't be worried about the keyboard being outdated fast as keyboards are one of the few things that you buy once and not have to upgrade for quite awhile. I have a friend who has the same k70 keyboard from like 6 years ago. As far as switches I would try them out and decide what you like as it's purely a preference thing.

Does this mean you have no upper budget? If so don't waste time on off the shelf, go custom.

Personally, no, they suck. As do all Cherry sandpaper switches. The only Cherry switch I'd use are clears and then only after lubing and spring swapping. I'd go with Gateron or Kailh, or my personal preference Zealios. That said, switch preference is 100% subjective. I'd recommend getting a switch tester from https://novelkeys.xyz/collections/switch-testers and find out which is best for you.

Oh boy, I think I have some things for you. Try this and see which switch you like.

 

Once you find out, buy a GK64, choose "No switches", and purchase your switch of choice separately.

 

By the way, any MX mount keycap will fit onto those switches.

Already got the K95 Platinum with brown switches :3
