Ryzen 1700x only using 4c8t

Go to solution Solved by Izak_lotter,

Found a Fix :D msconfig was set to 8 (my previous i7) changed it to default and it shows all 8 cores and 16 threads.

Kinda weird that it did that ...

System specs:

Ryzen 1700x

Msi x370 Carbon

2x8gb ripjaws 3200mhz

Cooler Master G750M

GTX 1080 galax

Cooler Master Master liquid lite 120 cooler

What is wrong:

I installed my 1700x in my x370 mobo and started up bios, I updated the bios to the newest version. I ran a few tests to see temps and it was well below 50 degrees with cinebench running. but my cinebench score was half of what it should be (750) so I took a look in task manager and it showed  "Cores : 4" and "Threads : 8" 3.4GHZ

I have not touched any OC on the CPU RAM or GPU.

I have not changed any BIOS settings except for a fan curve.

Any Idea how to make my 1700x use all 8 cores and 16 threads?

I saw a setting in the BIOS called Simultaneous Multi-Threading but the only options were "Auto/Disable" and I kept the default Auto

Are you sure you have not set Cinebench to only use a certain amount of cores? You could check this in the top left corner 'File', and then 'Preferences'.

Otherwise I have to ask; is task manager and, as asked above, CPU-Z also confirming what Cinebench is telling you? If so, try reseating the CPU.

I think you got the other half of the stick: https://www.techradar.com/news/some-ryzen-5-1600x-buyers-have-found-their-6-core-cpu-has-8-cores

But seriously though, I would try reseating it once, but if that does nothing you should return this CPU as it is very likely not functional.

I'm on the second last BIOS update on the motherboard, but I'll try updating it in a minute to make sure that is stable.

EDIT: I have the same motherboard, which is why I said that last thing
