Hello guys, how are you today?

I´ve come back to live with my parents for while since the end of college and got in touch with probably the worst possible nightmare for someone, a really bad internet associated with one os the scariest network setups I´ve ever encountered. So, talking to the local ISP the internet speed got a little better, now it´s time to adequate the network. The picture is, we live on a little building where the base is my dad´s store, in the first floor there is my uncle, second floor for me, dad and brother, and a terrace that is not really used much. The ISP cable goes to the store, where it meets a router, the router is connected to another 2 routers on each floor and a switch for the store PCs. All 3 routers have different Wi-Fi.

All summed up in this beautiful paint schematic.5ae997bc74b5e_Housemessnetwork.png.36855d5aeed8036d1a35f4ec92eb4cd0.png

I would love to read your suggestions on how to optimize the network. The main points to keep are: 2 wifi ( 1 for the store and 1 for the apartments), the apartment PCs can´t see the store PCs on the network.

Thanks for your time and sorry for the bad English, a Brazilian tipping on the cell phone late for work ahahah.

Turn on AP mode or turn off DHCP for the two routers upstairs, Not sure what your brand of router is.

Set the SSID for all the wifi to be the same.

Running into dual NAT in both houses most likely. Set them to work in AP mode (meaning working as a switch and a wireless access point) or replace them with standard network switches.

If you didn't say this I would have assumed English was your first language.

As others mentioned for the WiFi you can set them all up with the same SSID (& password if desired). As you move between the levels this should force your devices to reconnect with the other routers as you move too far away from the previous one.

If your goal is to have everything on the same network assuming your're using the WAN port on the Uncles house & your house you can disable DHCP on those two routers and switch from Routing w/ NAT to bridged. This will make your uncles router and yours use the DHCP server of the stores on the bottom level and make your IPs visible to the store router allowing you to see every computer from every floor.

I'm using old D-link routers everywhere hahahhaah. Buying new hardware is not out of question, and with a decent router, I could probably cover both apartments with just 1 wifi. For everyone but me, 2,4gHz will do just fine. Buying a decent switch for the bottom floor to use as the main distributor is a good idea? Or there will be no real difference?

The tips and advices are helping a lot guys!!

Simple, set a DMZ zone on the first router and another DMZ on the second router. This might be a less the optimal but with no extra hardware and minimal config its the essayist option.
