Laptop with i7, GTX 1060 or Better for $1000 or less

Hey guys. I've got a fixed budget of $1000 ($1100 if i really push it, which id rather not) to buy a laptop. I plan on using it for both school work (taking it to school everyday), and gaming. I've already checked out the Acer Predator Helios 300 and there's a lot of complaints about quality control so that's out of the question.
i need a laptop that fits the following criteria for a maximum of $1100
- Durable/Good build quality
- IPS display
- GTX 1060 or better

- i7 anything 6th Gen or later
- 1 TB HDD

- LESS THAN AN INCH THICK
*i plan on making the purchase during summer but need to communicate with my parents on my choice. If that helps with anything*
(I've also seen the Asus ROG GL502VM[$950]  but there's quite a few complaints, Anyone have an opinion on it?)

So please. Any suggestions?

you won't find all those things in that price range....

the screen will be TN and the hard drive will end up being a 5400rpm slogfest if you're ready to be realistic about those things than there are options. but they will all have people complaining about them so i don't think you should axe out those two you've seen

Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7-7700HQ 15.6" FHD, GeForce GTX1060 6GB, 8GB DDR4, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD. Price is a bit high now, cause it's brand new, but it will fall soon. They also have i5 models.

The cheapest model with 1060 and i5 is still 1105 USD, not including shipping.

Yes, because it came out in less than 2 weeks, price will fall in next month or two

I'm not axing out both. Just the Helios 300. What I meant to say incase it was misunderstood was, Does anyone have any experience with the ROG GL502VM by any chance. And if so, what's your opinion on it?

Helios 300 and Asus FX-VM both runs HOT. Get Dell 7577. Otherwise wait for more CFL-H laptops.

Yes you very easily can. :P This isn't the laptop dark ages from 2012 and before, it's 2018. The Inspiron G7 laptops are specced pretty damn well for overall performance. The 1060 model comes with a new CFL-H i7 and a Max-Q 1060 for I believe $1100. SSD included, that and an IPS display. Check it out on their product page. ;)

the $999 Model sports only an i5 and 256GB SSD. I think that'll affect my performance a bit. So I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer to make a choice.
Thanks for the suggestion though. There's a model with an i7 , 256GB SSD as well as a 1TB HDD and 16GB RAM but that's $1200 and out of my budget.

Could I please get a link to that. Wonder if there's a model that isn't a Max-Q

There isn't. Besides, a Max-Q 1060 is identical to the performance of a 980M, which is no slouch even today.

Sounds like the Dell G7 15 7588, it's only been out for maybe a couple of weeks but for a 1,050 USD you get a pretty sturdy chassis, a 1TB 5400RPM HDD, an 8th Gen core i7-8750H, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 Max-Q, and a FHD IPS display. I don't know the dimensions but it should be less then or around an inch thick going by recent patterns in the performance laptop market.

It's a Max-Q. However it can be tuned to 1060N due to good cooling

on dell's website i see i5 sshd(8gb cached 5400rpm) with a 1050 for 999

or i7 with 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD no dGPU for 1150

and those are inspiron 15

the G7 starts at 1600$......

it's clearly not 2012 but it's still unrealistic to expect those things at 1000$ my point still stands
