Windows doesn't slow down over time, your programs slow it down. Installing lots of programs will cause it to slow down a bit, so keep stuff you don't need off the system and your good, and stop background apps you don't need. There really isn't much more this programs can do that windows can't.

Hello,

Since the Windows XP days I've been using Advanced Systemcare free/pro versions & they've been great for ensuring my PC is in relatively tip top condition. That being said regardless of the version Advanced Systemcare has been extremely intrusive, pop ads (if software is out of date, not scanned in a while, there new products), installing features I don't want etc. It's really not what should be happening from your anti-virus..

So, my question is - is there a suitable alternative to Advanced Systemcare that is either free or a low cost (like $10/year, if there is something good that costs more please still post it)? Malwarebytes is great but it's limited to only doing antivirus stuff, not general maintenance. Advanced systemcare is really good at what it does, just the whole intrusive part goes too far.

Screenshot of the stuff Advanced Systemcare does for people who haven't used it before:

Thank you :).

Try Avira? I've had it for 6 months on my new PC now and it's been doing fine.

Thank you, if I'll take that under consideration if I don't decide to follow Electronic Wizardy's advice.

Generally all these programs are pretty bad, and windows will do most of this for you. Id suggest just letting windows do its thing.

Given enough time doesn't Windows get blogged down and slow though or have times changed? I was hoping this type of software prolongs windows before a fresh install is required. Is my view on this matter incorrect?

CCleaner.

Using the registry cleaner is nothing i would recommend.

I used to use that but I was hoping to have all of key tools in one package but I think it's probably a good idea to use it again.

Thanks for the posts everyone.

Noted, I think I'll remove it all together then. Thanks, marking this as answered.
