So, we can expect GPU prices to go back down to reasonable levels? .... Until the next big mining craze anyway.

Better tell Linus to not start up his own cryptocurrency then :P It'll be Cryptokitties all over again lol... (which I regret selling this little guy)

I do not understand this thread title at all.

Because GPUs will go down in price, resulting in you... Buying them for less money?  Wait maybe you buy a LOT of them expecting the price to go up because GPU themselves are the next cryptocoin?

Well, if the price is so high that you just don't buy, and then it falls to the point where you are willing to buy, then you are going to spend more money. It's basically what every sale is trying to do: get people to overall spend more.

Not gonna lie. From the thread title, I expected this to be about a Steam Sale.

There's another example of lower prices meaning higher spending, and people seem to get that one :P

Buying a GPU is more likely to eat up all your savings when the prices are high though, not low

A lot of people are holding out on buying GPUs because the prices are so inflated right now. When the prices drop, many gamers will look to now upgrade their GPUs. I know several people who will buy a GPU once prices come down.

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

GPU prices have been insane for a while now. It's about time they come out (hopefully). I was fortunate to have gotten my GPU before prices began to skyrocket.

I've got some friends IRL waiting to finalize their builds and the only things they need are GPUs, especially 1060s, 1070s, and 1070 TIs. None of them want AMD GPUs though.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

Peripherals - Corsair K70 Lux RGB | Corsair Scimitar RGB | Audio-technica ATH M50X + Antlion Modmic 5 |

CPU/GPU history: Athlon 6000+/HD4850 > i7 2600k/GTX 580, R9 390, R9 Fury > i7 7700K/R9 Fury, 1080TI > Ryzen 1700/1080TI > i7 9700K/1080TI.

Other tech: Surface Pro 4 (i5/128GB), Lenovo Ideapad Y510P w/ Kali, OnePlus 6T (8G/128G), PS4 Slim.

Yeah me too but the next one is still a bit off. Really need an upgrade on my gpu. Still using my gainward gtx760 and its starting to show its age. That msi gtx 1070 ti is one heck of a beauty.

most people were holding out on buying them at those prices so we were all actually saving money. If they drop i will be opening my wallet, so i get the OP.

those damn miners are pretty unpredictable. True that

still in my country with the exception of AMD cards you can now buy Nvidia gpus and not have to sell a kidney and the used deals seem more reasonable xD
