How to clean cpu thermal paste

Could you use generic alcohol wipes that are used for stuff like cuts and wounds to clean the thermal compound off of a cpu?

Anything non abrasive and lint free would be preferable. I use paper towel or gauze most of the time. For paper towel I would shake it first to get any sort of paper dust off of it.

you can use eyeglass cleaner wipe as well and with those they evaporate liquid very fast.

A paper towel is good for getting the bulk of it. Use 90% (or higher) isopropyl rubbing alcohol if you want to be extra thorough, but it's not a big deal unless you're overclocking.

Just run water over it while you work, keeps the temps down.
