I7-8700K vs I9-7900K

So I'm going to be building a new system for personal and work use. I have the budget needed to be able to use the 7900K but with I'm going to be using the system for I was wondering if it would be overkill and not needed cause I would love to not have to buy it if not needed. The system will mainly be used for gaming (both normal and vr) some light content creation (youtube and video editing) and coding for my job (as well as 3D Work and printing as a hobby). My overall budget is $10,000 US Dollars for the PC and another $500 for mouse keyboard and headset ( I already have my monitor I bought it last year during the black friday sale at Newegg)

Your budget is $10,000 so you can probably fit a 7980XE in your budget.

I know I can but I don't want to go to a Extreme Edition unless I absolutely have to cause I would love to have a overpowered system but I also want to have money left over for other things like bills and food xD

You don't need an i9 at all, the 8700k can easily do video editing and 3d work.

It also performs better in gaming.

Well honestly speaking you'll be better off with the i7 8700k, it is the best gaming CPU and perfectly capable of doing "light content work".

The new versions of AMD's "Ryzen" processors will be launching next week on the 19th. I would wait until then so you can make the most informed purchase :)

Even if the 2600X and 2700X are only 10% behind, I would argue you still get a better deal with Ryzen. Be honest, the gaming experience on Ryzen is not bad at all.
