You should get any 16GB kit of 2x8GB 1600mhz or higher that is specified as compatible with your motherboard by either the motherboard vendor or the RAM vendor. Some premium vendors are, Patriot, Corsair, GSkill, ADATA, Kingston and Samsung. There is no good price for RAM anymore unless you get a really good sale some where and if you find one PM me so i can check it out too.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Brand doesn't matter. Any CL9 1600 ram will do nicely.

The cheapest XMP 1.5 v 1600 9-9-9-24 you can buy. Unless CL9 1866 is the same price.  Volts give you headroom and usually mean the ram is GOOD when they do those timings at that voltage.

Step 1. When you get it? Go to overclock tab in bios and click enable xmp. Grats your memory is seen and timings are good to go. If you bought 1866? Tinkering will MAYBE gain you .5 fps in games...but hey if you are like me? You are gonna get as much as you can out of the ram. We will tinker later.

Step 2. Dial in your overclock on CPU, and cache on CPU until they are rock solid. Don't bother with ram yet.

Step 3 Change memory speed to 1866, timings to 9-10-9-28 T1 at 1.5v (a cheaper name brand might have to do T2, Gskill always seems to rock t1), and run memtest through one pass and then run test 5, 5 times, or test it overnight, or run prime through one round on blend and memtest overnight. Works most of the time on Gskill, corsair, kingston, crucial etc. You might need to go to 1.56 but whatever, that is still lower voltage then most 2133.

Past that? If you got 1866 cl9? try for 2133 cl9. If you can't do that you should be able to do cl10 with a slight bump in voltage (1.56) and it will be using less volts then the craptastic 1.65 v 2133 ram they sell you for way more. Some 1600 will hit cl10 with looser timings elsewhere. Ripjaws can often do this. My Ares did. Is it much faster then 1866? Not really. But hey it's free, so why not. Cl9 1866 will often do 2200 at tight timings. 2400? Usually the timings begin to really suck and the latency gets so bad it is pointless.

Test memory bandwidth/latency with maxxmem or aida. Run them a few times. Go with the lowest latency speed on the test.

Remember Dude, What are you ACTUALLY PLANING TO DO ?

-Gaming ? Get any 16 Gigs kit of RAM clocked at 1600MHz in Quad Channel and you will be good

-Photoshop ? After Effects ? Premier Pro ? Cinema 4D ? AND maybe Gaming ? => But 32 Gigs of RAM at the fastest clock with the better price : I've bougth 32Gig for Kingston Hyper Blue X at about 120$ 1 year ago, and i do all i've said before ;)

Remember, RAM does NOT matter if you only play games, except BF4 because BF4 uses a little bit of ram : If you got Fast ram, you should get 3 or 4 more FPS in BF4

Best regards

Nah that test is rigged by Corsair, which is why they didn't do the test with 1 GPU. SLI it can make a difference. On one card at 2133 my benchmarks all went up, rendering went up. Game performance. Not so much. 1600 to 1866? Yup, I saw a jump on one card. I gained a solid fps in Guild Wars 2.

Intregrated GPU is also a big swing with faster ram.

They don't even mention the latency in corsairs test on the 1600 or the 2400. It could have been 1600 cl11 t2 and the highest binned 2400 in their factory at lower latency and t1. :)
