White blank page with dark theme

As a dark theme user, sometimes when a new page loads a blank white page is displayed for a moment, then the rest of the site loads. i would assume it's a FOUC but i am unsure.

The white page is just what's displayed by the browser before it can display the site - it's not a FOUC because there's no content displayed, just a completely blank page. There's nothing we can do about this (aside from improving response times, which a lot of work has already been done on and there's not much more we can reasonably achieve with this forum software).

Maybe you can get a plugin for your browser to show a black page by default before content is loaded

i was gonna whip up a userscript to do just that, but was concerned about if it was allowed to do so

If you're on chrome, download almost any theme that's dark coloured, they'll have that page as black rather than white.

Feel free to use userscripts for anything^† on this site - in the past I've published my own (and I maintain a list of third party customisations like userscripts), though most of them are no longer supported or compatible. If you do end up creating scripts for other things though, please do let me know, because things that people are scripting to work around are also things that I would want to look into changing.

What browser are you using OP?

I'm using Chrome (latest stable build) on Windows 10 1709 with the default skin/theme, I do not have that issue?

Maybe try installing Chrome & seeing if that changes anything, since for me it loads up a black page.

If it does, maybe clear your browser cookies/history/cache & retry; might actually fix it.

Lets redo the site to use basic HTML

 

It might even work with edge

Just make it so basic your grandma could code it.

 

Don't forget about leaving out encryption for logins and just emailing you your password when you forget it!
