Can I7 8700k lga 1151 work on Gigabyte z170x gaming 3 ?

i want to upgrade my CPU on Z170x gaming 3 if i update my BIOS to f22j will it support Intel core i7 8700k CPU ? i have checked that cpu is lga 1151 socket.

No you need a 300 series board for Coffee Lake.

It won't. But some people have modded a Z270(?) board and gotten it to work. But its probably a longshot with a 170

They got the i3´s working which essentially are Kaby Lake Quad Cores. No i5´s and i7´s with 6 cores runing on those boards as far as I know:/

no and if someone tells you that they know a guy who know a guy who did it ask them to do it them self because i am waiting to see a video of someone doing it. if i am wrong and someone has modded there motherboard to do it i sure as hell would like to see that video.
