Is Galaxy Note 8 easy to scratch?

Hi there, I'm planning on buying a new phone and I have my preferences on the Note 8 for alot of reasons.

One thing I read about is that screen is easily scratched and sides are chipping off even from smallest bumps. Has anyone been using Note 8 for at least a few months on a daily basis with or without a case? Have you got any scratches on it?

I'm very gentle and caring person when it comes mobile devices and electronics in general. Right now I'm using my Galaxy S3 that I bought at release 6 years ago, and I don't have a single scratch on its screen. Only few scratches on the back side and some paint has chipped off from the sides. I would 100% buy original Samsung case for it if I go for that phone.

Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

I'd go for an S8 or S8 plus. It's basically a note 8 without the pen + it's cheaper.

Like?

My needs when picking a phone now is

1 At least 6 inch display

2 Good cameras (Rear and Front)

3 Dual SIM

4 Good amount of RAM for multitasking

5 Multitasking extras

6 And yes, S Pen is a big deal for me. I'm used to it on my Samsung tablet, and having it on the phone would be great.

Note 8 does all that.

I see. If you are afraid of scratches and damage then go ahead get a case. The back is glass anyway, which means the device is just waiting to shatter from your first drop. Also attracts fingerprints. Such smart Samsung design. Its so beautiful you'd be silly not to cover it up.

Glass back is a stupid idea regardless.

I'd get a DBrand skin at the very least. Not only will it keep the glass safe, it'll keep fingerprints off as well as providing better grip.

I'd look into also getting a tempered glass screen protector, though I don't know if there's any good ones for curved screens.

Honestly I don't think you'll have a problem. I didn't scratch the screen of my Note5 while I had it, though I did use it with a case; no screen protector though.

Glass backs facilitate wireless charging and give the phone much greater bending resistance. You won't be able to bend the S9 like you would with an aluminum back phone.

I've been using my Note 8 since November with no screen protector on it and there isn't a single scratch on the screen.  I do have a very small form factor case on the phone (which came in handy the other day when I dropped it from chest level by accident at work) but I haven't found a screen protector for the curved display that I am happy with, so its been naked the whole time.  I wouldn't worry about scratches as they are unlikely to occur in normal usage.  Of course anything can happen though...
