What is the point of building home servers?

Can you have one server that functions as a dedicated game server and a Plex media server?

You could have a server do both but you have to make sure you have your terms straight. Dedicated means it does one thing and nothing else. Also you may run across a term "bare metal" which means physical hardware instead of virtualization.

On that note if you have game server software that runs on the same OS as plex can then you likely could just get away with that instead of running them in a VM.

There's no place like ~
