Steam Link or Gaming Console?

Uh.. One has dedicated hardware, the other decodes a signal over a network which is processed by another machine. Of course one is going to be better than other. But for the $$ the Steam Link is awesome value imo.

If you already have a gaming PC, buy a steam link so you won't need to nuy games twice and have better experience.
If you don't have a PC and all you want is to play on the big screen, buy PS4.

Even better if you have a Samsung smart-TV. No need to buy anything at all, you can just use the free Steam Link app. It even supports 4k.

I suppose if I had neither I'd probably go ps4.

 

 

Though speaking of the Steamlink, how would the latency be having my host PC wired and the steamlink connected through wireless assuming I had a decent wireless AC router?  I don't have a steamlink but if the latency was good I could get one for my living room TV (my main PC is downstairs).

Absolute bargain! I got mine when it first came out for $40 shipped from EB Games Australia in one of their flash sales. Beat paying the $99 RRP, I then sold it at Christmas for $60 when no one had stock, heh. I also just bought another for $30 which came with a $20 Steam card, haven't opened it yet. I should've bought all of them like the manager wanted me to. Considering they're a hot item around Christmas..
