Not sure if the GPU is what you should replace now... Next gen cards from both AMD and Nvidia (Nvidia talked about it openly, AMD seems to still be preparing content) seems to support the new directX Raytracing tech much better than current cards do.  If I were you I would hold on to the GTX 970 for a while and keep track of the news.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

That will take too long plus the 11 series will be unaffordable and unattainable in the first months after launch. Yes, the prices of the 10 series will probably go down by a lot but that also means I will have to wait months before I can upgrade. As you can see I have a 1440p monitor atm and therefore are in desperate need of a GPU upgrade.

Stop hoping the 10 series prices will go down. They will most likely not :P

Nothing will change (except the usual +- few % up and down) up to Q3 This year. Probably even Q4.

Nvidia said that somewhere, they believe up to Q3~ the prices will even continue to rise. Not just Mining, also Ram supply.

If new Gen launches, the will also start at these "extreme high prices" ^^

Why? Because they can. People will buy. If not, prices go down. If yes, they stay up and nvidia will only hear the sound of Cash dropping all over the place.

I feel the same way, so I am just going to upgrade now.

I've heard about similar stuff when Kaby Lake launches. "Intel will just copy and paste their design and call that 8th gen, so I'm gonna buy the 7700k", they said.

Go ahead if you are that in a rush.

I'm not saying that you're wrong. I'm just saying that when you look at my setup, including the monitor, the only part of my setup that is lacking at the moment is the GPU. I value 60fps gaming which might be achievable with a 1070ti, but I'm thinking: why not future proof a little?

1080 ti is actually not a bad choice for ac hieving your 70 fps lock on 1440p.

I have the same Res (but 144 Hz and G-Sync) and a GTX 1080.

I would have to turn some settings DOWN, in order to hit 60 fps in some games.

You can't have too much GPU Power. Not possible. Even if there were a GPU with double the performance of a 1080 ti, you could bring it down to it's knees.
