used 970 vs new 1050TI

My friend is looking to upgrade his PC this week and originally was going to buy a new 1050ti, i suggested that getting a used 970 might be a better option as you can fing used 970s going for the same price as a new 1050ti. Is it worth getting a used 970 or would the 1050ti be the better option?

it depends on where you live but I would suggest getting the 970. As I made the upgrade from a non Ti 1050 recently. You can find some 970s out there going lower than a price of a brand new 1050 but its gonna be hard finding one yourself at the right price because of availability and generally (in my area) these 970s are in high demand. so the 970 is a good choice if you can find one for the right price

i've seen some FTW and msi aero cards going for £175-£200, in the UK the 1050ti and a used 970 are practically the same price
