I've ran win 7 ultimate on a netbook with intel atom cpu and 2gb ram, browsed just fine. What's your task manager report for cpu/ram usage while running slow?

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

Increase the ram. 2GBs is barely enough for it.

You think that is old, I still have laptop with a Centrino, and a desktop with Pentium D floating around... well at least I know I can do some retro gaming.

As asked above I'd love to see your task manager report for cpu/ram usage while using Chrome

Much better to know what process/es are causing the poor performance which task manager should indicate rather than just uninstalling programs through randomly guessing

That's fine, but seeing this will give us a better idea on exactly what the issue is. I would guess that more ram would help improve your situation though.

Browsers can easily chew up 1gb or more of RAM with a few tabs open, especially if you are watching twitch streams or youtube videos in your browser. As others have mentioned, check your Task Manager while chrome is running and when you notice your computer slowing down to see how much RAM is being used. My guess is 2GB is not enough for what you're doing.

Post screenshots of the "Processes" and "Performance" tabs in your task manager. They should look like the following

If you are on a tight budget you can get another 2GB DDR3 DDR2 stick for around US$20 which will give you a total of 4GB RAM and will help a little. However, if you can afford it look at getting 2x4GB DDR3 DDR2 sticks for around US$75.
Used market should be alright for DDR3 DDR2 RAM so check that for some 2x4GB or 1x8GB sticks and you may save some money.

Pretty sure his RAM is DDR2, while the GPU is using DDR3, but OP should check to make sure anyway

Woops, yeah you're right the 775 socket boards run DDR2. Think I just skim read and saw DDR3. Edited post to fix it.
I assumed it would be 1x2GB stick, but it may even be 2x1GB sticks. Either way, I'd still recommend getting 2x4GB sticks if it is within your budget.

To tie into above info, you might need to get 2GB sticks of ram, and not 4gb sticks, depending on what your mobo supports. Just something to check to make sure :)

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 AF -- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT -- Mobo: Gigabyte AX370-Gaming K5 -- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Oloy 3000 MHz -- GPU: EVGA Nvidia 1070 Black -- Case: Phanteks P600S -- Storage: 240GB Corsair Force MP510 NVMe - 500GB WD Blue HDD - Hitachi 3TB HDD -- PSU: Corsair RM750i -- OS: Windows 10 Pro
