A couple points:

-SLI is a bad idea, basically nothing supports it. Unless you know your use supports it don't bother. Just buy one fast card.

-Consider Ryzen 7, if you're going fanless Ryzen 5 (maximum).

-Consider a down draft cooler like the Scythe SCKC-210 or Noctua NH-L12 if you're planning on overclocking.

-Consider a platinum or titanium rated PSU if you are going X399/X299

-If going with AMD, make sure that the RAM is validated for the motherboard

-Consider about 650w for PSU for system with R7 and 1080Ti

-16gb of RAM of the fastest memory that's supported is recommended, but go for 32gb if your wallet allows.

-Consider airflow optimized case for TR/IEE, like Silverstone RL06

If you sign up on EVGA.com you can get auto notified when the card comes into stock and get it for ~$800 us instead of the inflated price. Also the 900D is a HUGE case and with just one GPU and no custom cooling loop it would look empty. I put the Master case in as a place holder, but I would recommend going with a mid tower over a full ATX case with this parts list. I have the thermal take core x9 which is similar in volume to the 900d and it took a bit to get it looking full.

I personally would still go 8700k. It beats it out in editing and in recording the 8700k has better gaming performance while an R7 has better streaming performance. But the rest of the time the 8700k wins in gaming performance.
