[Worldwide] Intel Delid tool promo code {USD} $5 OFF

Yoola

Going back to Ivy Bridge when Intel started using toothpaste instead of soldering die to the IHS, whole delidding idea turned out to be viable option. If you feel like your (Intel) CPU is warmer than you'd like it to be, you can try delidding it. For me this blew over 25°C off my 4770k and allowed me to push higher overclock yet with lower temps. Many 8700k and 7700k users are even reporting drops of 30°C.

These days, there's no need to worry if you'll damage your CPU in the process (unlike using vise or razor) since there are tools on the market that make it safe for you to remove IHS, apply liquid metal and even relid the IHS back on. One of them is Rockit 88 from Rockit Cool. If you have any further questions about anything delid related, feel free to ask me in the comments.
In selection of tools, there's Rockit 88 for LGA1150/1151, Rockit 99 for LGA2066 and separate LGA 1366 delid tool. Also, what they offer is alternative copper IHS that can further decrease your temperatures. You can find liquid metal there aswell! Basically, there's everything you need to delid your CPU!

Huge thanks to Rockit Cool for sending us the tool.

Use code 'PCMR5' at check-out.

I'm not saying delidding doesn't reduce temps by a lot, but why does your HWmonitor have a a cpu watt draw of 141.39W before, and then 101.99W after?

Hmmm, just wondering, are you fammiliar with power leakage and how that's affected with temperature?

If you're not, I'd suggest searching on YouTube for terms 'GamersNexus power leakage'. In multiple videos they explain it. And I'm definitely sure they'd explain it better than me :D

Yeah, sorry I thought it was more of a hwmonitor bug. Power leakage doesn't seem to significantly decrease from the 7700k/8700k delids I have seen.

Yeah but on this oc it's much higher from stock/turbo to it than most 7700k/8700k's do. So that might be one of the reasons.
