I purchases 3 and San Andrea's based on they were on sale yesterday, and the reviews.

However when I left the Steam basket unrefreshed, I paid full price today, $24ish buckaroons, so I overpaid $10 or so, no big deal.

However I am playing with keyboard and mouse.

I use the up and down arrows to walk/run or whatever hes doing, then I need another hand for the direction.

Driving is down with LRUpDwn arrows but I cannot seem to move the vision with the mouse.

Is this game best played with console controller?

Did you try looking at the controls? Most likely you want to play anything before GTA IV with an X-input controller

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The mouse should turn the camera for you in the game, if it isnt then you probably are experiencing a bug.  You can fix it by spamming esc to go in and out of the menu but I would use a windowed mode d3d9.dll you can get it on this page:

https://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/ar4sg

There is also a downgrade tool which you may be interested in.

https://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/resources

Btw movement is WASD the arrow keys while they do move walking CJ they have different controls in vehicles (most notably airplanes).

WASD to move F to interact mouse to move camera right click to manual aim and left click to shoot thats about it. Oh and tab to answer calls but the game constantly reminds you of that.

Christ, you're talking about 3 and SA. For a second I got all excited that we were about to discuss GTA and GTA2

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Yes I almost bought those as well, but I forget how much dinero they were.

I've been playing 3 and I dig it on the PC, I have GTAV on Playstation and I never liked it, kids dont play it either because of the violence.

I found out that WASD I can use or the arrows, but I need to use 2 hands for movement one on keyboard one on mouse, it will just take time to get used to it.

Whats the average time it takes to finish these games?

There’s more to the game than driving, killing people, and shooting at police?

You can finish it?!?!

whaaaaa, why’d you do that? I thought the point was to walk around punching people...

I'd argue most third person games like this (such as Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row) are best played with a controller.

Using your left hand on WASD keys for movement and right hand on mouse for view/aim is a standard for third person and first person games on PC. The controls should be largely similar to GTA V on PC.

I thin I am near the end of GTA3 because when I pick up the 6 packages from the helicopter, each package increase one warrant, up to 5/6 warrants so the FBI now chases me. I can go to the roof of the diner and get it reduced by one and I have the map to reduce them.

Am I suppose to catch the packages from the heli so they dont land in the water?

Oh damn, I was hoping this was going to be about GTA and GTA2. I tried to play them last year and found even the free versions from Rockstar's site from a few years back don't run on Windows 10. Backwards compatibility is the bad part of Windows gaming.

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.

the SA port on PC should be fine and play able the only mission you will have trouble with is the lower rider DDR type missions as the arrow keys are reversed ( up and down are reversed) but you can change the controls in the settings to have them work normally ( just switch what they are as default)

as for 3 (and vice city) I’d say you’d need a controller  due to the port being shitty with mouse and keyboard.

False, the dancing missions (Lifes a beach and if you were to take milie to a dance club instead of you know killing her) use WASD and the low rider meetup (Ceazar Vilapando) you use the numpad (8246 as UDLR)

San Andreas:

Assuming you only do the missions and dont do any duping or gang territory skip the world record is 6 hrs 7 mins 46 seconds by Flying.

So you can assume to beat GTA SA all missions should take you around 10-12 hours with all the inefficiencies that come with not being a speedrunner.

GTA3:

Assuming you only do the missions and dont do any glitches the world record is 2 hrs 42 mins and 7 seconds by Anti.

So you can assume it will take you around 4-5 hours.

That’s why I meant the numpad arrow keys (because you use numbed DUH) are backwards in gta SA pc port. Just becas  I didn’t say numpad didn’t mean he wouldn’t get it as in game that’s what you use. I assumed he was smart enough to know.

I was clarifying that the low rider meetup in Ceazar Vilapando mission uses the numpad arrows but dancing like in Lifes a Beach mission or if you were to take a date out dancing uses the regular arrow keys.

You are only required to date milie perkins (croupier from Caligulas Palace casino) but you can kill her on the 1st date and you can steal the card from her house. This may or may not require a phone call from Wu-Zi-Mu memory is a little vague on that detail.
