RAM Heat Spreaders

Are the heatsinks on RAM necessary if you're not going to be using XMP, and your cooling your CPU in an AIO?

Don't think so. I have never checked RAM temps, but the price difference is not much, and  you keep it cooler.

Not if your buying from the classifieds XD. I'm getting a really good deal on some RAM, it just won't have the heat spreaders.

They're not necessary, they're mostly there for looks. If you look at server RAM, basically none of them have heat spreaders on them because they're purely functional and don't need to look good.

At default speed without xmp it won't overheat, so no. And it got nothing to do with you cooling with AIO, but i think cooling with a fan is better as it also blows some air to the memory.

You can add heatspreaders to your chip if you want to with these:

Yes server ram doesn't use heat spreaders, but because it usually running at stock speed 2133 to 2666 without xmp mode to get lower temps.
