If 37 is 74 percent then what number is 100 percent?

50?

Correct. @Boomwebsearch you can "reverse engineer" the question if you think you have the right answer.

Take 50, multiply by 74%:

50 * 0.74 = 37

So by doing this, we have confirmed that 37 is the correct answer.

You can calculate this by doing the following:

1.

Take 74% and inverse it:

1 / 0.74 = 1.351351351351351

Most calculators have a "1/x" function to make this faster

Then you take the result, and multiply by 37:

1.351351351351351 * 37 = 50

There are often rounding errors in these calculations. Technically the above calculation yields 49.9999999 repeating, so you just round to 50.

EDIT: there may be a more accurate/easier/faster way to calculate this, but I haven't had math class in like 10 years, so, don't assume this is the method your teacher wants you to use.

I thought that if 50 is 100 percent then 1 would be 2 percent. Then using that in a table you can find out if it applies to 37 is 73 percent which verifies that the answer of 50 is correct.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

73% is incorrect though.

You can test for yourself:

50 * 0.73 = 36.5

It's close, and can be rounded to 37, but 74% is the "more accurate" answer.

If 37 is 74% all you need to do is divide the number by the percentage.

so to get 100% you just need to do this:

37/74%

or 37/0.74

It'll give you 50 ;)

Wow... so much math for such a easy question :P Let's add some quantum physics calculations in there too xD

I quite clearly stated that it might not be the easiest or fastest method :P

To be fair, my phone is literally always on me. Me being in a situation where I need to do math, and I don't have my phone, is incredibly unlikely. Especially if this was part of my job.

Stranded, where? In a farmers field? If I was stranded, why would I be concerned about math (especially if the context is fixing some piece of farmers equipment)?

Plus, I always keep a 13,000 mAh battery pack in my backpack ;)

So sure, hypothetically there could be a situation in which my battery ran out, and the backup battery ran out, and I had no electricity.

But hypothetically, your pencil could break, or you could get a concussion and your internal math skills could be clouded by the injury.

I mean, if we're talking about whataboutisms after all :P
