List birth year but not month and day

I think it would be really nice to be able to list your birth year without listing the birth month and day. It is possible to list the birthday without the year but it doesn't currently let you just list the year. I don't care if people know how old I am but it would be nice to no have to give a specific date

Pick a random date, then you get to have two birthdays. Win win.

I actually second this. I shouldn't be required to display information like birth day and month. I've had issues with other sites where they show too much, and had no way of hiding sensitive info. No offense, but it's better to have options...

The thing is though, it is just a friendly suggestion, if you don't like it then ignore it. If the admins don't like it then you don't have anything to worry about anyway.

yeah but isn't WRONG information like just making it 1/1 just as good as no information?

the idea to conceal the day and month , can be done by putting in the wrong day and month can it not?

It certainly could and I never said it wouldn't. The fact that it is possible exclude the year shows that it is possible to do what I am suggesting and I just thought it was strange they didn't for the month/day.

 

While it would be nice to be able to do this I don't really care if they implement it or not. Some people just like options

It makes some sense, but it's not something that I can change so it would have to be done by the forum software developers, and they very rarely change things that were the result of a deliberate design decision as this appears to be, so it's unlikely to change I'm afraid.

You could always just put the year in the about me section and not use the standard birthday field, as a workaround.

I am required to tell you that I actually found a way to do exactly what you're asking about. Here is what I was able to do:
 

1. Navigate to your LTT profile page.
2. On your profile's banner, there is a button that says "Edit Profile".
3. Click on it, and you'll be shown all the details that can be changed. One is birth-date.
4. At the top of the drop-down list, there are blank entries. Select them for day and month.
5. For year, select "Not Telling".
6. Once selected, these fields should show up as blanks. Check them once you're finished.
7. Click "Save".

That is totally fine, that actually makes a lot of sense. I thought I would just throw it out there to see where it goes

 

Had I known that a suggestion of this magnitude would wound members of this community so greatly I would have reconsidered posting

Thanks, I knew this though but I want it the other way around, with the year but not the day and month
